Wind of Heaven
15 x 11 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to hang outdoors, bath, kitchen
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

I've heard people say they feel close to God when gardening. In my early life, I felt that way when riding my horse.

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
John 6:51

I get requests for butterflies and dragonflies, so this combo window naturally evolved.

Sweetheart Seat heART

Found a high chair the other day, and removed everything from the seat so I could paint on it. What fun!

Jesus with Map
approx 7 x 12 inches
acrylic and collage on wood
no need to frame
SOLD

I decided to do a variation on Jesus with maps instead of hymns. It was fun deciding to put Jerusalem right in the middle of his forehead. The Bible says in Revelation 22:1-4 "Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads."

So, I figure the forehead is used for positive things as well as for the mark of the beast. (See Revelation 13:16) We forget that the enemy likes to imitate God, and we must take back what he stole.

Ballerina Fairy
wood is 2.5 x 14.5 inches
wings are 9 inches wide
acrylic and sparkles on wood
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

I've always been fascinated by ballet. I appreciate it even more when I think about what they must go through in order to look the way they do, and do what they do. Most artists do indeed sacrifice something for their art.

Spirit Queen
oil on canvas
16 x 20 inches
sides painted, no need to frame

Thought I'd show one of my favorite pieces. When a horse is confident, they have a regal air.

Yes, I Am
5 x 8 inches
acrylic on wood
SOLD

One of the joys of live painting is being able to alter a piece for a customer. This painting, which is embellished with glass pebbles, went to live with a young woman that wanted "It is what it is" added to it. She seemed like a very confident young lady.

Thought for the Day:

More Reggae Fish
each piece is approx 8 - 10 inches long, and 3.5 inches tall
acrylic on wood
safety coated for display outdoors, bath, kitchen
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

These schools of fish just seem to multiply and swim home with people! I call them reggae fish because the tropical colors and vibrancy remind me of the islands. Life is colorful here at the beach, too.

Thought for the Day:
There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Skateboard Palm
approx 5 x 30
acrylic on an old skateboard
safety coated with clear gloss
to enable hanging outdoors, bath, kitchen
SOLD

I had lots of fascinated watchers as I painted on this old skateboard. It is rough at the bottom, so I just made that part of the palm tree. I do love the beach; I sometimes take for granted living in a place where other people come to vacation.

Tie Dye Spirit
approx 8 x 10 inches
acrylic on wood
SOLD

I just got four new tie dye t-shirts. My theory is that if I wear tie dye while painting, when I get paint all over myself, it just blends in!

Rilke Girl in Purple
8 x 5 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated with clear gloss
to enable hanging outdoors, bath, kitchen
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

Can't seem to get away from this wonderful Rilke quote. Once at an art show, one of my fellow artists bought a piece of art from me, saying, "anyone that quotes Rilke in their art is alright in my book." So, thank you Rilke!

Thought for the Day:
On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.

Mermaid with Shells
approx 7 x 25 inches
acrylic on wood
embellished with seashells
SOLD

My friend Kate's husband, Mike, is in construction, and saves wood for me. This piece had an interesting hint of blue to it, and was uneven on the end, so I used those things to my advantage. Thanks, Kate and Mike!

"Hymn To Jesus"
approx 9 x 11 inches
mixed media collage on wood
no need to frame
SOLD

The 1977 movie, "Jesus of Nazareth" starred Robert Powell as the unblinking Jesus. The idea of a British looking Jesus with blue eyes is actually kind of funny, since that's not what Jewish people usually look like. This painting is based on that image which, for better or worse, is burned in my brain.

Thought for the Day:

I love painting horses. I don't go in much for astrology, but my sign is Sagittarius, the horse man.

Coca Cola Winged Guitar
11 x 15.5 inches
acrylic on wood
with aluminum and paper collage elements
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

One of the things I love about Folk Art is that there are no rules, so anything is possible. It feels good to create with no boundaries, making "trash to treasure" gems.

Fruit of the Spirit
appox 9 x 12 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to hang outdoors, bath, kitchen
SOLD

Once again, I've sold art without photographing it. It was done in this style, but had lots of swirling stars in a dark blue sky. I try to keep a record of everything, so that if I get a request that references something I've already done, I'll know what it is the customer is talking about. The other day, I had a cutomer request a comission similar to a painting I had already done, and I had to get up and go look inside the gallery to see which one she meant. I paint so many paintings that I sometimes forget!

Madonna and Child
approx 9 x 15 inches
acrylic on wood, with goldleaf
SOLD

My interest in the feminine Divine continues, hence this painting. Sometimes I ask myself, "How much did Mary understand?" Since women tend to be very intuitive, maybe she understood more than most folks give her credit for understanding.

Joe, Dixie and I went to see the Tams in concert on Friday night. They helped originated Beach music and the "Shag" dance that was such a big part of Myrtle Beach in the 60's. My favorite song that they sing is "Be Young, Be Foolish, and Be Happy."

The ants and the heat were intense, but I decided to have a good time anyway. I really "got my dance on" as they say. I even took part in the Love Train at the end! A good time was had by all!

Just a whimsical little fish today. I ran into the owner of the Big Tuna, the new store in Market Commons. They are set to open in about 2 weeks, so I'm looking forward to having lots of my artowork there.
