Bulldog with Droopy Tongue
acrylic on wood
14 x 14 inches
SOLD

I saw the cutest bulldog at Art in the Park last weekend. I had this painting sketched out and ready to go at home. Seeing the bulldog "in person" (wouldn't it be "in dog"?) inspired me to finish it.

I'm pleased that my art has a new home at Boardwalk Coffee House at 9th Avenue on the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach. Stop by and see Rick and DeAnn Sarver for a hot cuppa java, along with sandwiches, ice cream, and other coffee house fare. I'll be doing lots of live painting there during the season.

Reflecting

This one was inspired by the movie "Evening" with Claire Danes. I decided to turn her canoe into a viking boat, though.

Cork and Cap Fish

acrylic on wood

SOLD

This painting is big. It makes me want to go swimming!

Monday, August 23, 2010

Lots of happy customers lately! I like adult customers, but rarely take their photos! In the second photo, I had to fix the peace signs - I forgot a line, so they looked like Mercedes symbols. Perhaps it was a Freudian slip?

My painting appears on the cover of She Magazine this month. It goes well with their theme of Wise Women for the month of August!

All You Need Is Love Fish
acrylic and mixed media on wood d
oor

SOLD
Couldn't decide what to name this piece. Other thoughts were "Drowning in the Sea of Love" and "Love is the Key." In the end, the title of the Beatles record won out. Because it is true - love is really the main thing. Those who have love in their lives have got the biggest treasure of all. In the end, I think it is all that will matter.

Connoisseur's Collection

I love using little scraps of paper to add interest to a piece. It adds the element of the unexpected. I've been very prolific lately, in order to restock after good sale days. I think the economy is beginning to recover!

My daughter's high school graduation was last night. We had a ton of people and fun and love and food flowing through our house afterwards, so I thought this painting was appropriate. We are truly blessed and so very proud of our little Dixie Star. She's all grown up and heading off to Anderson University in the Fall.

Sun Box
14 x 10 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on wood wine box

I found this wine box made of wood and decided to make it beautiful. It would make a good jewelry box. I've always loved things with lids since I was a kid, so painting this was a trip! It's Memorial Day weekend, so it promises to be busy here in Myrtle Beach. Hope you all are having fun wherever you are!

Wise Woman

Sometimes it is good to be reminded of all the things we strive for in life. None of them would be possible without grace.

"And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace."

Heart's Song
20 x 16 inches
acrylic on recycled wood cabinet door
SOLD

Finally, a freeform piece not based on the Woodstock song! I've been watching an Australian show called McLeod's daughters. It's about a bunch of women that run a ranch. It's right up my alley with horses and cows and whatnot. While the slang is amusing (a chook is a chicken, a blue is an argument, a greenie is an environmentalist) I am struck that we are all the same, really - meaning that human beings have more in common that we do things that separate us. One Love, and all that....
