Dove Chocolate Mermaid

This piece was a fun challenge. The Dove Chocolate wrappers were graciously given to me by my friend Allison. She and her hubby have a fondness for Dove chocolates!

I find I'm luckier when I work harder.

Monarch Window
29 x 27.5 inches
acrylic on old window
embellished with a touch of glitter and glass pebbles
sealed and ready to hang
SOLD

I always enjoy painting on windows. The natural frame makes for an awesome finished product. Years ago, I became enarmored of a a song called "The Caterpillar's Song" by the Mississippi Children's Choir. Some of the lyrics are "Once I was a caterpillar - now I'm a butterfly. I've been transformed, been reborn, and Jesus is the reason why." I've always cherished children's choirs. Have a great day, friends.

Bluebird in Flight
8 x 5 inches
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang
SOLD

I have a small collection of Bluebirds of Happiness, so I thought I'd paint another. Sometimes as I work in my barn, I hear the birds chomping away on their seed in the feeder. It's a happy sound.

I couldn't wait for success, so I went ahead without it. -Jonathan Winters

Gull In Flight
approx 24 x 15 inches
acrylic on wood cabinet door
sealed and ready to hang indoors or out

I had a wonderful lunch with friends today, and feel rejuvinated from the past two weekends of hard work and fun. Community and fellowship are so important.

This painting was done from a photo I took when hubby and I went to Southport, NC in the Spring. Flight always amazes me, whether it is birds, butterflies, or dragonflies. I hope to be light enough to fly someday...

Green Pear
9 x 12 inches
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang
I've been busy working on commissions from last weekend's show. Three folks are coming today to pick up the work. I love painting pears because pears are the sexiest fruit, and no one ever painted a bad pear. Life is good.

In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.

The mother/daughter bond is one of the strongest in the world. It can bring so much joy. The other day I told my daughter (Dixie, 16 years old) that she was sent to me to teach me certain lessons. She thought that was kind of funny....

My mother had handed down respect for the possibilities—and the will to grasp them.

I met the neatest horse yesterday - his name is Tipperary and he's a gorgeous 17.5 hand gelding, half Thoroughbred and half Shire. I'm looking forward to getting to know him!

I've been painting pretty steadily, getting ready for this weekend. This cow made herself known to me as I painted.
