Green Earth
8 x 8 inches
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang
I am of the philosophy that the Earth is alive, and we must care for its health. I want future generations to be able to enjoy dangling their feet in rivers, walking in forests, and all the other cool stuff this beautiful planet makes possible for us. I do my part - I buy green, and I'm a recycling maniac!

Do or do not, there is no try.

Pseudo Family Portrait

This was a commission for a beautiful homeschooling family from NC. I don't do portraits (we have cameras for that). This is as close as I get to that. It shows, hopefully, the spirit of a family. Did you notice that if you look at the family from left to right, it looks similar to a heartbeat on an EKG? The heartbeat of life is the family....

If a man would move the world, he must first move himself.

Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's
26 x 13 inches
acrylic and collage on wood cabinet door
sealed and ready to hang

Their music still sounds good to me. Why is it that some music is timeless, and some is only for the time? I have to admit, Paul has always been my favorite.

The possible's slow fuse is lit, by the Imagination.

"Get Real"
acrylic on recycled window

This is the Bird family of Richmond, Virginia. The woman in the pink shirt in the center is starting a non-profit shelter. Her daughter, the woman in the black shirt and white pants, bought this window for her as a business warming gift. It is wonderful to know that this window will go on to do good works where it hangs. God is good!

I love painting hearts. They are such a universal symbol.

acrylic on wood with embellishments

There is a constant flow of computer parts through my home because of my husband's business, so I thought I'd make use of the keyboards. Such fun!

Sweet, 10 year old Jordan painted with me yesterday. I sketched this, she blocked it in, and I finished it. It is my favorite piece from yesterday. We had fun!

Be Here Now
approx 15 x 15 inches
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang

Jimmy Buffet has a song called "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On" Here are some of the lyrics:

I bought a cheap watch from the crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And If I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On

I like the phrase "Be Here Now" because it reminds me to be in the moment, and enjoy it.

Andrew's Puppies
Whimsical Pet Portraits on Old Window

Andrew's puppies are from top left: Millie, Roxanne, Otis, and Marlo. I got the chance to meet them before painting them, and they are wonderful angels! Their joy and health is a testament to Andrew's care.

Rainbow Forest - We Grow Like Trees
approx 19 x 35
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang
Here is another in my rainbow forest series, this time with some of my original poetry:
"We grow like trees: slow, strong, and in all directions."

Here is another bit of good news:

I'm going to be on the Travel Channel!

The guy that shot the footage and interviewed me doesn't know when it will be, though. Does it count as famous if you don't know when it is on?! Kinda ironic, I think, since someone semi-famous bought a piece of my art last week. (Merle Haggard's piano player, Doug Colosio)

Music Heals
13 x 36 inches
acrylic on wood

Here is another one of my "freeform" pieces. This one has some of my own words on it: "Music is how we wash the soul and feed the Spirit." They are so much fun to conceive. They just seem to have a life of their own as they develop. I call it the "dance of the brush."

The older I get, the more I realize that there is so much inside all of us. There truly is a river flowing within. I don't want to leave this earth with my music still inside me.

Good impulses spring from a happy readiness of spirit.
~Balistar Gracian
