Back To The Garden
approx 12 x 18 inches
acrylic on wood
sealed and ready to hang
SOLD

This piece was inspired by a song by Joni Mitchell called "Woodstock." Crosby, Stills and Nash did the version with which I'm more familiar. There is a lyric that says, "We are stardust, we are golden. And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden."

“We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust.”
Rumi (1207-1273)

This is Emma. She is a very special young lady. Her parents bought her this happy little sea turtle. She told me that she loves sea turtles, and that this year for her birthday party, she asked for donations to for the sea turtle foundation instead of presents. Doesn't that just give you hope for the future generation? Go Emma! Her brother has won several awards for his drawings, especially of dinosaurs. Go bro!

My hubby told me the other day that this is one of his favorite paintings that I've done. So, I decided to do another painting in that same genre.

Jailhouse Rock
19.5 x 21.5 inches
acrylic on wood
ready to hang

I watched Elvis sing Jailhouse Rock the other day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpzV_0l5ILI

He was so controversial in his time. (He seems tame compared to the slutty pop stars I've seen sing on American Idol this year.) But there is definately something about the way he moves. It is undefinable, but it does seem to come from the inside....

For me, home is a sanctuary from the world - because of my loving family. I'm blessed.

This piece was inspired by a song by Whitney Houston called "I Have Nothing." These are the wonderful opening words of the song. They've always struck me.

I'm fascinated by flight. I can totally understand why DaVinci spent so much energy on his flying machines. The closest I'll ever come (before heaven, of course) is parasailing. What a blast! And it's not scary at all - just quiet and very peaceful.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Don't get sucked in by the pessimism in the air nowadays! Look for what is good.
