More of my own words.....
I love painting butterflies. They are such a wonderful metaphor for change. We all need change in order to grow. I must confess, my first instinct when faced with change is to dig in my heels and refuse. But once I surrender to it, I'm always glad I did.
I always enjoy painting on windows. The natural frame makes for an awesome finished product. Years ago, I became enarmored of a a song called "The Caterpillar's Song" by the Mississippi Children's Choir. Some of the lyrics are "Once I was a caterpillar - now I'm a butterfly. I've been transformed, been reborn, and Jesus is the reason why." I've always cherished children's choirs. Have a great day, friends.
I get requests for butterflies and dragonflies, so this combo window naturally evolved.
Last summer, my family took a mini-vacation to Savannah, Georgia. One of the highlights of the trip was Bonaventure Cemetery, because of the beautiful old trees and statues. I've often thought about what it would be like if one of the statues was touched by God and came to life. That's the inspiration behind this piece. It makes me think, "what part of my life needs to be touched by God's grace and come back to life?"
