sides painted, no need for a frame

This one has lots of texture and a finishing touch of goldleaf. They say the streets of heaven are paved in gold. I think there must be lots of horses there, too.

Earth Herd
48 x 24 inches
acrylic on canvas
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

I like the way this herd seems to spring up from the landscape. In any herd, there is always a dominant horse, usually a mare, that disciplines the herd to make sure they are safe. I read about this in a book by Monty Roberts called "Shy Boy - The Horse That Came In From The Wild" I highly recommend that book, by the way, especially if you are a horse lover. Horses are much smarter and instinctive than I ever understood when I was growing up riding them. There is a whole school of thought that has sprung up in the last few decades called "Natural Horsemanship" that takes all this into account. I've been watching the Parelli's on TV, and they simply amaze me.
