Woman, Thou Art Loosed
acrylic on wood
23 x 27 inches
safety coated to hang outdoors, bath, kitchen
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

Thought for the Day:
And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
~Luke 13:11-13

Hula Girl
approx 5 x 12 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to hang outdoors, bath, kitchen
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

I've nevr been to Hawaii, but I've heard it's beautiful. Our family once went to a luau at Sea World that made me feel like I was in Hawaii! I've seen the waves they get there, and I always wonder how the surfers don't get hurt.

Thought for the Day:
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.
~Will Rogers

Love Lifted Me
approx 6 x 10 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to hang outdoors, kitchen, bath
sides painted, no need to frame
SOLD

I'm only familiar with the Kenny Rogers song called "Love Lifted Me." But my daughter tells me it's an old Baptist hymn that is sung at her school all the time.

Thought for the Day:
God reached down from on high and took hold of me; God drew me out of deep waters.
~Psalm 18:16

McKenna Mermaid
approx 12 x 9 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to enable
hanging outdoors or in bathroom
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

I love painting mermaids!

I have a friend that calls Mary Magdelene "Mary Much-maligned." I think it's funny, but true. Pope Gregory is the one that commanded that she be associated with the prostitute. Anyway, I've been reading in Proverbs. Over and over again, it refers to wisdom as "her" and "she." Seems pretty clear to me that wisdom is a woman:

Prov 1:20Wisdom calls aloud in the street,she raises her voice in the public squares;

Prov 4:66 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;love her, and she will watch over you.

Prov 7:44 Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"and call understanding your kinsman;

Prov 8:11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Prov 9:1Wisdom has built her house;she has hewn out its seven pillars.

Prov 18:4The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

Thought for the day:
Goodness without wisdom invariably accomplishes evil.

What is it about frogs? I painted two more yesterday. I'm getting better about remembering to photograph paintings before I sell them.

Thought for the day:
Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons. It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.
~Walt Whitman, Song of the Open Road

Striped Bass (aka Rockfish)
acrylic on wood
SOLD

Tuna Fish (not Charlie)
acrylic on wood
SOLD
Did you know that the state fish of Maryland is the Striped Bass? I learned that last night on Jepoardy! Sometimes I like to put some realistic art on my blog for a little variety.

Thought for the day:
Burn brightly without burning out.

Touched By Grace
approx 9 x 12 inches
acrylic on wood
SOLD Last summer, my family took a mini-vacation to Savannah, Georgia. One of the highlights of the trip was Bonaventure Cemetery, because of the beautiful old trees and statues. I've often thought about what it would be like if one of the statues was touched by God and came to life. That's the inspiration behind this piece. It makes me think, "what part of my life needs to be touched by God's grace and come back to life?"

Thought for the day:
Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time.
~Deborah Chaskin

Froggie Hallelujah!
acrylic on wood
SOLD Sold this to a fascinating couple from Maryland. Their bathroom will now be redecorated in greens and yellows with plenty of frogs. How fun!

I had a lovely day with a new friend yesterday. We took a class together, then swam in the ocean. The message of the day for me was "open your heart."

So, the thought for the day is:
"Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness."
~Oliver Wendell Holmes

"Lighthouse On The Rock"
5 x 8 inches
acrylic on wood
SOLD

Living here at the beach, I get requests for lighthouses and such. This little doodle was painted "while you wait" at the House of Blues.

"Colorful Guitar"
approx 7 x 6 inches
acrylic on wood

I chatted with a lovely young girl named Katie while painting this at the House of Blues on Friday. She said she loves to paint, and that her favorite instrument is the drum.

"Blue Crab on Bare Wood"
approx 8 x 5 inches
acrylic on wood
SOLD

Today is my sister Donna's birthday. We'll have a nice dinner, followed by cake and presents at my house ~ a very traditional celebration.

I was reading this morning, and this popped out at me: 1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our friends.

"Free Spirit"
26 x 14 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated with clear gloss
to hang outdoors, bathroom, kitchen
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

The text on this piece reads, "The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. John 3:8"
Paintings are like children in that you give them birth. You really shouldn't have favorites, but it does tend to happen.... I'm thinking about making a print out of this one.

Not Cranky, Just Crabby
approx 12 x 8 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated with clear gloss
to enable hanging outside or in bathrooms
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

This little creature is certain to give more smiles than crankiness! Once, at a show, a woman said to me as she was buying one of my happy crabs, "I looked all around at the other tents, but this crab kept calling me because I felt such joy! I'm surprised because I've never bought anything like this before!" Joy is indeed one of my missions.

Blue Damsel
5 x 5 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated with a clear gloss for waterproofing
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

I've been seeing so many dragonflies lately. They are little miracles to me. One came and hovered in front of my windshield as I was waiting in line for gasoline the other day. Then it danced around everyone else's vehicle, too. I looked around, and no one else saw it ~ they were all on their cell phones. I hope I never miss the gifts God gives because I'm buried in technology or busyness.

Froggie Love
approx 15 x 12 inches
acrylic on wood
safety coated to hang outdoors or in bathroom
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

Here's another piece painted at the House of Blues. I seem to paint very well there ~ perhaps it's because I stay focused. I thought about calling this one "Ain't Nothin' Like Momma" but since the word "ain't" was like a cuss word in my house when I was growing up, I refrained!

Winged Happy heART
approx 12 x 8 inches
acrylic on wood with gold leaf
safety coated with clear gloss to hang anywhere
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD
I painted this yesterday during the Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues. What great music ~ it certainly kept the fires burning within! They sang old gospel favorites like "Soon and Very Soon" and "Down By The Riverside" and "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." I call it hand-clapping gospel ~ the kind of music that makes you glad you're alive, but even more glad that this world isn't my true home!

If a miracle happens, don't take it for granted, or pass it off as chance. There are no co-incidences, only God-incidences!

The painting went well yesterday at the House of Blues, and I sold several paintings. I'm going back today!

Splish Splash
approx 15 x 9 inches
acrylic on wood, safety coated for display in bathrooms
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

I've been wanting to do some fun bath art for awhile, and finally got around to it.

I've been invited to do live painting on the front porch of the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach this weekend. Come see me if you have time! Their food is excellent.

Red Ruby Slippers
approx 10 x 15 inches
acrylic and mixed media on wood
SOLD
This piece is done with actual red ruby slippers. The center of the poppies are embellished with beads. Pieces that have red ruby slippers usually prove popular at shows. The appeal of The Wizard of Oz is timeless, apparently. Although they are several days in the making, I do enjoy creating them. I hope you'll enjoy what you're doing today, too.

Glory Road
36 x 24 inches
acrylic on canvas
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

This one has lots of texture and a finishing touch of goldleaf. They say the streets of heaven are paved in gold. I think there must be lots of horses there, too.

Earth Herd
48 x 24 inches
acrylic on canvas
sides painted, no need for a frame
SOLD

I like the way this herd seems to spring up from the landscape. In any herd, there is always a dominant horse, usually a mare, that disciplines the herd to make sure they are safe. I read about this in a book by Monty Roberts called "Shy Boy - The Horse That Came In From The Wild" I highly recommend that book, by the way, especially if you are a horse lover. Horses are much smarter and instinctive than I ever understood when I was growing up riding them. There is a whole school of thought that has sprung up in the last few decades called "Natural Horsemanship" that takes all this into account. I've been watching the Parelli's on TV, and they simply amaze me.
